Frequently Asked Questions
What do you charge?
£65 for a 50-minute session 9am - 5pm.
£85 for a 50-minute session outside 9am - 5pm.
How do I pay?
Whichever method is easiest for you.
Most people pay me by electronic bank transfer, for which I give you details when we book our first appointment. But cash or cheque is fine too.
I send receipts for each payment.
When do I pay?
Some people pay months in advance. I ask you to pay at least 24 hours before each session.
Where & When
Where do you work?
What times can you see me?
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 8am – 8pm. Sessions are weekly and 50 minutes long.
What if I need to cancel or miss a session?
I ask for 24 hours’ notice, otherwise the full charge is payable.
How many sessions do I/we need?
I have worked successfully with some couples in short-term focussed therapy for as little as 4 sessions but most people come for 6 – 12, with many choosing to work longer-term.
Can I see you alone and then with my partner/family?
Yes I always see each person of a couple for at least one individual session; I can’t see one client alone more than 4 times without then also seeing their partner or other family members.
Obviously for individual counselling I see you alone, but if you decide you’d like your partner to join you, the same rule applies: I can’t see your partner with you unless I’ve only seen you individually 4 times or fewer.
What happens in a session?
We explore areas that are troubling you. I don’t tell you what to do but rather help you find new ways of dealing with problems. See the Therapy page for more details.
