supervision

Hello, I'm Alex, supervisor and therapist working in private practice from Wandsworth, London SW18. I offer supervision  and separately, therapy to trainee therapists, individuals, couples and families; I work in person and online, usually 90 minutes once a month or 45 minutes once a fortnight, though this can vary according to your workload.

I've trained with Joan Wilmot and Robin Shohet in core supervision, the seven-eyed model and CLEAR.

I see supervision as a collaboration between us - a sharing of your workload. We use both our relationship and yours with your clients to illuminate your work, always within the safety of your professional body's guidelines and the wider systemic, ecological context.

About me and my practice

Before working as a therapist and supervisor I edited fiction and non-fiction for large publishing houses, then taught modern and ancient languages, mostly at secondary level.  From 2014 I trained at Relate, where I received my MA in relationship therapy; controversially, my dissertation was on humour in therapy. Subsequently I became BACP accredited.  Now I've worked privately for 8 years with trainee therapists, also adult individuals, couples and some families.

"Relationship therapy" covers a huge spectrum of issues: anxiety, trauma, parenting, retirement - life!  My MA was grounded in psychodynamic and systemic therapies, but I work with a range of modalities, from CBT to solution-focused therapy, Mindfulness to Gottmann's Four Horses of the Apocalypse and lots in between, so I label myself integrative.  I'm also very hot on self care: without looking after ourselves, we can't begin to be of use to our clients.

I look forward to hearing from you, to finding out about your practice and what you want from supervision.
